Tech House Tutorial - How To Produce Tech House In 5 Minutes - FREE Samples

How to produce tech house in Ableton Live: I share some basic house music production techniques including drum programming and how to make basslines... ▶ Free Horizons Sample Pack → https://hypeddit.com/track/sc/jj7v15 ▶ House Music Production Courses → zermelomusic.com/patreon ========== Whenever you're producing melodic music, it's obviously going to be all about the chords and melodies. Even with tech house. I’m playing 1 3 4 in the G Dorian mode. So Gm, Bb major, and C major. ▶ If you want to learn more about music theory and modes, check my music theory video playlist out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pf17eEs_j0k&list=PL2yGbtDlY_0GdY8jbXzckLTUf365wLbQk The cool thing about the Dorian mode is that it sounds sad, but hopeful. If you're using Ableton Live for music production, loop around your chord progression with MIDI Overdub enabled and experiment with adding extensions and non-harmonic tones to your chords. Then break the MIDI up and let different instruments share the harmony and melody. This technique is called 'hocketing'. I have several layers: a low melody, some main pianos, some higher piano, a counter melody, and a string to add some higher tension. Strings are a staple of house music. I also have a really uplifting layer for the break sections. We need to find a sad, but hopeful vocal to match the mood of the Dorian mode. I found a great clip with Ronald Regan. A bit weird for a tech house track, but it works. I don’t want to distract from the vibe, so I want to keep the drums and bass absurdly simple. The kick and bass have to have that signature tech house drive though. We need some simple shakers and tambourines to keep a constant 16th note rhythm in the top end. We also need a midrange percussion motif. But again, let’s keep it simple. ▶ Don’t forget to download all these free samples! zermelomusic.com/horizons-free-samples Since the music is relatively complex (for tech house music), we don’t need any fancy structuring just a DJ intro, a bass drop, a little break, the first main drop, the main break, the second main drop, and the DJ outro. Finally, we need to create those special moments. Let’s create some small edits to highlight each music lift in the drops. And for the climax, I programmed a weird bee riser that leads us to the pay off vocal. One more thing, let’s add some super intense claps for the peak moment before the drop. And when you’ve finally captured the melody and rhythm of your hope and despair, you might be afraid to reveal it to the world. But heed these sage words: "The future doesn’t belong to the faint hearted, it belongs to the brave." ▶ Listen to or download "Horizons" → https://www.zermelomusic.com/horizons-download
